Emerald

Emerald, a striking rooster with a shimmering green tail, was rescued in December 2023 from the same heartbreaking hoarding case as goats Billy and Rose. Trapped in a filthy, cramped cage with no food or water, Emerald was underweight, neglected, and had never known a gentle hand. His nails were overgrown, his body thin, and his spirit worn down. But with proper nourishment, trimmed claws, and a safe new home in the barn, Emerald began to heal—and thrive.

Today, Emerald is the unofficial barn manager. Outgoing and easygoing, he loves nothing more than hanging out with Sara and Anthony while they work, often strutting proudly at their feet like he’s supervising the whole operation. His favorite pastime? Relaxing on the backs of goats like they’re his personal chauffeurs. With a fondness for sunflower seeds and a heart that’s as big as his personality, Emerald has gone from forgotten to unforgettable—bringing charm, calm, and a whole lot of character to the sanctuary barn.
