Bubba

Bubba, a shaggy Highland cow with a gentle soul and an impressive set of horns, arrived at the sanctuary in 2018 when he was just a calf. Originally meant to be a 4H show animal, his fate was destined to end in meat production—until the family had a change of heart. Less than a year old at the time, Bubba was given a second chance at life and found a forever home at the sanctuary, where he could grow up with love, safety, and room to roam.

Now a massive yet mellow presence, Bubba is as sweet as they come—just don’t stand too close to those horns, which he’s hilariously unaware of. He’s shy around big groups but warms right up to Sara and Anthony, especially when there’s lettuce or potatoes involved. When a fresh hay bale hits the pasture, Bubba turns into a whole different cow—playfully rubbing his head all over it before digging in like it’s a five-star meal. With his easygoing nature and signature hay-bale happy dance, Bubba reminds everyone that even the biggest animals can have the softest hearts.
